We believe that innovative technology has the power to truly drive change. The African startup ecosystem has shown extreme resilience during this challenging situation, and we’re extremely proud of the collective commitment of the FFA portfolio to develop technology that supports efforts to help fight COVID-19.
We know that the journey is uncertain and that many startups will need support to recover from this global pandemic. Many businesses will be under financial strain, while many will need to pivot to continue. We'd like to recognize some of the startups in the FFA portfolio who are creating innovative solutions for the healthcare community and beyond.
Envisionit Deep AI (EDAI) is a medical technology company that uses AI to streamline and improve medical imaging diagnosis for radiologists. The chest x-ray is the quickest and most cost-effective way to diagnose pneumonia in COVID-19 patients.
The RADIFY platform from EDAI is capable of labelling up to 2000 x-rays per minute and automatically prioritises patients with features of COVID pneumonia for further testing and treatment. This improves the speed and accuracy with which a radiologist can diagnose chest x-rays, thereby helping to triage patients more effectively.
